The Department for Transport’s Ideas Fund for Restoring Your Railway is intended to assist selected applicants to fund transport and economic studies and create a business case through awards of 75% of agreed development costs up to £50,000, with the remaining 25% met by the applicant. As already reported, UWR made an application to the 2nd round of the Ideas Fund in June 2020. The DfT subsequently responded with extensive advice and feedback on our application, together with an invitation to apply to the 3rd and final round of their initiative. After an extensive revision of our original application in the light of the DfT’s response, as well as additional data analysed in the meantime, the deadline of 5th March 2021 set for the 3rd round was met. UWR anticipates a further response from the DfT in early summer.
